Daya Ariyawathie started her career as a volunteer social worker in Progressive Women’s Front in 1982.When PWF reorganized as Women’s development Foundation WDF in 1991 Mrs. Daya Ariyawathi became a fulltime worker as the secretary. She has hold that position for 15 years While she worked for WDF she has hold so many other responsibilities in other human rights and development networks.1990-2008 worked as a founder member, human right activist an executive member and as the chair person of the Kurunegala Human Rights Organization. Since 1993 up to 1999 Secretary of Child Rights Coalition at National level. since 2001 -.2005 she worked as the Co-coordinator for an International Youth Exchange Program with Dutch & Sri Lankan youth be half of The Women’s Dev Foundation etc. . Mrs. Daya has joined as an election monitoring observer and interpreter from 1993-2010 for so many critical elections in Sri Lanka. As a election monitoring officer she has joined few international election monitoring processes too; as International Elections Supervisor for Municipal .Civil Registration UN Mission in Kosovo in 2000-UNMIK, UN Mission in East Timor, UNAMET 1999 – District Electoral Officer Training local staff for Elections, procedures and polling monitoring and supervising in most political sensitive area Maliana-Bobonaro Sub District in East Timor. 2006-2008 the former secretary of the Coalition For Educational Development (CED) and At present The Vice Secretary and The Director of women’s Empowerment in the same Coalition . In 2010 July she was elected as one of the directors of Child Rights Advocacy Net work (CRAN)which coordinated by save The Children Sri Lanka office At present Mrs. Daya works as a Child rights Activist of Women’s Development Foundation, and intervene with Human rights and Gender Issues, Gender Mainstreaming, Community Development, Capacity Building, Leadership Training, for children & Women groups.
